ACH Operations: From ARC to XCK

This ACH Operations book is designed to be used as a resource for ACH Basic Operations. It is based on the ACH Rules, and other bodies of law that apply to ACH transactions. The intent is to introduce the reader to the ACH world, and to provide sufficient instruction so that the reader will be able to work confidently with ACH transactions, including the processing of exception Entries. The emphasis is on the receiving side of the ACH transactions and what an RDFI needs to know. There are several references to the ACH Rules throughout this book, and Chapter 10 contains a glossary of terms and a listing of NACHAs Regional Payments Associations and Direct Financial Institutions members. Appendix A contains several sample forms that are referenced in this manual, and Appendix B contains all recent ACH Rule amendments. (The Clearing House) (January 2015)

How Same Day ACH Impacts ARC, BOC, POP, TEL & WEB Debit

Generic Event Image
Description: As the industry prepares for same-day debits later this year, strong use cases will become available via debit SEC Codes, such as ARC, BOC, POP, TEL and WEB,. Financial institutions and Originators will want to explore the potential new opportunities available with same-day debits.

With these newly eligible SEC Codes, Originators will have more flexibility in payment types, but ODFIs and RDFIs need to be familiar with the requirements of these applications and how the faster settlement of the items could impact their operations. The availability of ARC, BOC, POP, TEL and WEB as same-day debits allow for increased convenience, but all financial institutions must remain diligent in ensuring their obligations related to these SEC Codes are met.

Expanded availability of these SEC Codes allows for more flexibility for Originators and ODFIs and could allow RDFIs to address exception items more efficiently.
